How Restaurants are
Selected
We do not accept advertisements; restaurants are included strictly on
merit.
Restaurants are visited anonymously several times a year. If we have
more than one bad meal, we don’t include that restaurant. Our reviews
are intended to give you our impression of the restaurant’s ambiance,
service and food. If a negative note is included, it is because we
believe the restaurant has potential. If you have positive or negative
comments about a restaurant or our review, please call, write or send us
an email to:

How The Restaurant
Section is Organized
We begin with an index that
provides categories (by type of food and by specialty) to help you make
your restaurant selection. Restaurant reviews are in alphabetical order.
Reservations
In most restaurants, reservations
are a must. This is especially true if you are going out on Friday or
Saturday evening.
Restaurants Outside
of Greenwich
We include restaurants outside of
Greenwich when they are worth the trip. Close to Greenwich are two
restaurant areas that draw large Greenwich crowds: Port Chester, NY and
SONO (South Norwalk) just off exit 14 of I-95. Very much like SOHO
(South of Houston) in Manhattan, SONO contains a mixture of art shops
and trendy restaurants.
Restaurant Design
Although a few restaurants such
as Jean Louis and Le Figaro are exceptions, many restaurants are moving
towards Minimalist Modern. Unfortunately, these trendy restaurants
accentuate a problem common to many restaurants—overpowering noise that
drowns out conversation. Restaurants should be a place for relaxation,
good food and good company. In some restaurants, the noise level is so
high that you can’t enjoy your company.
Hours
Establishments change their hours as business dictates. Many change
their hours for winter and summer, and during holidays. Some chefs even
take vacations. Please don’t consider our listings definitive.
